The KDAA has secured a grant towards a new carpark at Seabrooks. The money will come from the Environment Agencies’ Fishery Improvement Program (FIP) administered by the Angling Trust.

As many of you will be aware, the normal carpark area becomes unusable during the very wet winters we experience. The new carpark will be useable all year round. It will be situated to the left of the road gate and will require an area of trees to be removed. Work is expected to take place sometime during the summer and will be completed before the end of September.

A new winter proof path will provide access from the carpark to the lake. The path around the left-hand corner of the lake that gets flooded each year will also be winter proofed.

This grant comes from your EA Licence fees and was only made possible due to the Angling Trust providing valuable advice on completing the application, the Angling Coaching Initiative providing valuable supporting text emphasising our involvement in encouraging new anglers and the Environment Agency guidance. Finally, thanks are due to our landlord, the Seabrooks, who made the land available for a better carpark than just winter proofing our existing area.

The final point to make is that the lake will be closed to members during the various stages of the work. Please watch out for announcements on Facebook, the KDAA website and emails.
